Feldera is a Silicon Valley (Northern California Bay Area company that seeks to revolutionize real-time data analytics. Our technology enables customers to evaluate arbitrary SQL queries over continuously changing data. Feldera was founded by a team of researchers and engineers out of VMware and is backed by Palo Alto-based Costanoa Ventures.

About the team

Building a successful database technology from first principles is an extraordinary feat that requires an extraordinary team. Our founding team consists of scientists and practitioners with decades of experience building successful open-source and commercial products across many areas of computing, including databases, programming languages, distributed systems, operating systems, and networks.

About the product

The Feldera analytical platform combines the latest results in the theory of databases with modern cloud computing technologies.

It consists of an open-source storage and compute engine written in Rust, that will be delivered to customers via public clouds like AWS and GCP. The platform will run within Kubernetes, with security, high availability and scalability being paramount.

The platform will allow customers to build streaming data pipelines, monitor and provision cloud resources, visualize health diagnostics and telemetry data, etc.

Ideal candidate

Our ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Rust and Java programming languages and hands-on experience writing high-performance code in these languages.

Responsibilities

1) Work with our compiler team to implement, test, and document new Feldera runtime library functions in Rust, 

2) Add support for the new functions to the Feldera SQL compiler written in Java, 

3)Work with cross-functional teams within the company to identify and implement solutions to complex architectural problems, 

4) Participate in building the Feldera open source community, 

5) Collaborate with a distributed team of developers.

Required skills

1) Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, or equivalent experience, 

2) Proficient with Rust and Java,

3) Experience with comprehensive testing methodologies, 

4) Experience with unix command line utilities, debugging, and version control systems, 

5) Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Optional / Preferred skills

1) Experience with SQL concepts and queries, 

2) Experience collaborating on an open-source project, 

3) Experience with compiler development, 

4) Experience working on database technologies.
