Med'EqualiTeam is a medical NGO providing free primary health care to people on the move. We currently operate mobile clinics for Ukrainian refugees out of Opole and need translators ENG-UA/RUS for our clinics. Med'EqualiTeam is a not-for-profit volunteer organisation, but we are able to offer a small stipend and accommodation (shared) for translators. Join a team of young, energetic, and international volunteers to help Ukrainian refugees sheltering in Poland! Job description As a translator you will be the link between the patient and the medic. In medicine communication is everything, and you will ensure that all information comes across to both parties without making yourself a central part of the conversation. Translating medical consultations is an intense job for which you need a lot of patience. Due to circumstances patients might be unfocused, frustrated, angry, or emotional in a different way. You may see patients with mental health problems which might cause consultations to be heavy. Patients will share stories that might affect you. Everything that is discussed inside the consultation room is confidential and shouldn't be shared with anyone else. As a team, we will always do everything in our power to support each other when someone feels the need to share feelings that are caused by the work. Required experience and skills Fluent in Ukrainian or Russian, previous knowledge about medical terminology advantageous but not required Fluent in English Capable of staying professional when medical consultations become emotional and tough Desired experience and skills Previous experience with working with displaced people Previous experience with interpreting Knowledge of health problems in patients with a refugee background Further information Understand that this is an intense job where a lot of patience, flexibility, creativity and team work will be asked of you. As an NGO, we are funded by donations. We can offer a stipend and free accommodation in shared flats for translators
